Abstract | Two quasi-experimental studies comparing technology-enhanced counselling consultation were conducted with a sample of 147 students enrolled in an undergraduate counselling and consultation course for elementary and secondary teachers. Study 1 (N = 76) compared the effectiveness of counselling consultation using telephone, text chat, or text chat with video streaming. Study 2 (N = 71) compared the effectiveness of telephone, telephone with video streaming, and text chat with video streaming. Results from both studies suggest that telephone consultation and text chat, especially when accompanied by a live video stream, are viable alternatives to face-to-face consultation. (Author). |
